As if my life isn't busy enough this weekend with work, dealing with something like THIS, but my inlaws decided they want to come down and spend the holiday.

My mother-in-law actually told hubby that she doubts I'll have to work THAT much.

What day is it?
The next few weeks are going to be bare-bones blogging. I'm beyond swamped with work...unfortunately, I cannot delve into the details here.

Work is HUGE. Lots of changes. Not enough time. I'm literally gone from 7 a.m. til 8 p.m. weekdays, not much less for weekends and holidays. Crazy busy.

Oh yeah, and I got a 10% raise today. Completely unexpected.

As busy as I am, nearly every day, Neeko and I get in our 2-mile walk. Munchkin comes with us quite a bit, too. We love to chat while walking The Hood, even at 10 p.m. It's great stress-relief, along with awesome Mommy/Daughter time and Mommy/Doggy time.

Plus, it is healthy!

There is a down side, of course. A cyst started growing on my cheek several weeks ago. It is quickly increasing in size, enough for concerned comments. My DR office is trying to fit me in Monday.

Ironically, Monday is the 10-year anniversary of the removal of my last cyst.

And it's hubby's 41st birthday.

RIP, Aaron Spelling
Thank you, Mr. Spelling, for reminding me of some of my best TV shows growing up.

Fantasy Island, The Love Boat, Matt Houston.

Nina LOVED Melrose Place.

The last TV show I lived to watch was Beverly Hills 90210.

Good memories. May God give you the clicker up at the Pearly Gates.

Trivia: He was married for 13 years to Carolyn Jones.

I miss Yellowstone
Yellowstone seems to be getting a lot of bad publicity lately.

A 6-year-old boy was badly burned when he supposedly fell off a walkway into hot geyser water.

A woman fell to her death after stepping over a retaining wall.

As someone who visited Yellowstone for several days two years ago, I gotta tell ya, IT'S THE STUPID PEOPLE!

There are signs all over the place warning to STAY ON THE DESIGNATED PATHS. There are signs saying DO NOT GO PAST THE DESIGNATED AREAS. There are rangers trying to keep people safe.

But you know, it's not PC to blame "the victims."

It sucks about the little boy. His parents should have been watching him better and enforcing the rules. Maybe even holding his hand?

Now, if you want an idea of the capabilities of the rangers at Yellowstone, this week they also apprehended two suspects in an Iowan bank robbery.

Cats DO get white hair when they age!
Princess is getting old. Next month, she will be 8 years old. She has white hair on her back. And still just 3 lbs.

Last month, she developed a cough. I called Doc, who reminded me she is getting old (in cats years, she's about 57 years old.)

A few weeks ago, one of her wounds became infected.

Friday night, she was scampering around our patio eating grass and one of the neighbor cats got her good. He was about 12 lbs and rolled her over a few times. Painfully. I punted him off, and saw her struggle to stand up.

She spend Thursday night and Friday in The Recovery Room, aka my bathroom. This completely freaked out my UTI kitty, who is used to the exclusive use of it. He is used to being locked IN, not OUT. Nurse Munchkin pulled duty.

Princess is fine now, not even a limp. The cough is occasional, but it reminds me of my old dog, who had to be put down. He started with a cough.

Princess is the Queen of my cats. The others seek her approval. They want her to let them lay next to her without getting a smack. They want to share her special food.

When I released her from The Recovery Room, she laid down on my bed and each cat got a turn preening her. Because even the leader sometimes has to be babied.

Gift-giving silliness
With all the weddings and graduation parties going on right now, it's EZ to hit the po'house. No kidding, we've gotten at least a dozen worthy party invites in the mail!

My best idea so far for the grads is to write a check for $20.06 for the card.

Most likely, I won't be attending the weddings, but my brilliancy is to write out his and her checks for $20.06...except for one very special wedding, which will be in the amount of their wedding date (ex: July 4, 2006 = 74.06.)

I wonder how many will "get it" right off?

Recent news that irks me:
Wounded judge made enemies in court
As a judge, OF COURSE, the guy had made "enemies." Someone is going to win, someone will lose...that's why there is a JUDGE who has to make a DECISION! Because 2 other people cannot agree.

This line irks me most tho: "I think karma finally came back to bite him," Idle said. "Hopefully Weller will have a change of heart in the way he deals with human beings."

That wasn't KARMA, you moron, that was a psycho with a gun.

On the Seventh Day, God Rested and Liberals Schemed
I feel sorry for Ann Coulter. She is so filled with hate over political views! I guess it sells books and makes her money.

I'm not even a Democrat, but find it hilarious that she thinks being called "Godless" is an insult. It's really praise, Ann.

What is appalling is that she equates pedophiles with being gay. How revolting for her to NOT recognize pedophilia as CHILD RAPE. And RAPE is an act of violence!

Now THAT is an insult to every single person!

Hard to believe that 42 years ago, a pregnant 16-year-old & "lady's man" 18-year-old eloped.

The 3 parents were all against the marriage. It wasn't smooth sailing, there were times us kids were against the marriage, too. But unlike so many others in their generation, they never divorced. Heck, they never even got marriage counseling.

Happy anniversary, Mom and Dad!

On a more national level, Congress just got another raise.

I'm not a big believer in helmets or seat belts. After reading
Roethlisberger's surgery successful, I have to remember The Accident.

Rob wore a helmet. And when he died, he wasn't all mangled or gory looking. He was still handsome and looked like he was just sleeping.

Helmets don't save spinal cords.

Right now, Michigan is trying to pass the NO HELMET LAW (with a few guidelines.) Still, hubby and I will wear them. Why? Because if we don't, NOTHING ELSE WILL MATTER. A 110 mph drunk driver who lost their license 10 years ago will walk away with a slap on the wrist if s/he injures, or even KILLS, a motorcyclist without a helmet.

Hitting a dog would bring more serious consequences.

Psycho sister
My "boyfriend" from first thru third grades was named Geoff. He was darn cute to me then, but checking out the same pics now, pretty goofy looking. teehee

I moved over Easter break in 3rd grade, which ended the "relationship."

Years later, during high school, I saw him again. He was a drop-dead gorgeous sports star, but we still lived 50 miles apart. One date pretty much ended things again, except a few more phone chats. No biggy.

Nearly 20 years later, my sister gets a job at an insurance company. She comes across his name. He's a DOCTOR.

She tells my mom this tidbit, along with, "Sunshine sure was stupid to let him go! She could have been a doctor's wife!"

Hell-o! I was 9 years old! She's such a psycho.

When my mom told me, I corrected a few "facts" from my sister, like his area of expertise. Plus, he's MARRIED. He has kids. It's all out there on his practice's Web site.

And I'm pretty sure I'm doing pretty well, myself. And my hubby is more than happy to play doctor anyways.

Family fear factor
My mother called me today on my cellphone. That RARELY happens.

She got a letter from my jailbird nephew. According to the Keeping Track of your favorite Michigan Jailbirds site, he is up for early parole this fall.

Nope, he went before the parole board a few days ago. He wrote her BEFORE he got his decision. Now, we will just have to wait and see.

I rewarned my mom that she is NOT to speak of me to him, especially about my job. And she is to tell my BIG-MOUTH SISTER, who has corresponded with my nephew during his incarceration, the same thing.

"I already told her, Sunshine. She told me to tell you that you aren't to say anything to him about her, either."

"WHAT?!!? *I* haven't seen or spoken to the kid for 10 years! She's on freakin' crack! SHE is the one mailing him freakin' letters and taking his collect calls!"

Now, I am seriously afraid. Thanks, sis. At least my stepson will be here this summer, too. He's no dummy.

Believing his parole was this fall, I have already had THE TALK with Munchkin. "If you EVER see your cousin in this area, DON'T TALK TO HIM. You get to a phone in a safe place and call me right away!"

And it's sad when you have to fear FAMILY.

I truly fear my nephew. One of the numerous charges that put him behind bars is something that I know he'd try again: stealing, easy money.

I am completely disgusted that his winter 2008 release got reduced to fall 2006. And then, from fall to spring?

On this day
I keep calendars. For the past 6 years, I have bought the same red, dollar-store, leatherish calendar book to chart my life. They track my schedule, bank balances, appt, visits, etc.

Even my periods.

My kids ever-changing heights and weights. But not mine.

When I was in a teenager, I did the same thing: Out w/Jim, Mall w/Kevin, dinner w/Frank family. Proms, birthdays, arguments, etc.

I quit doing them in the early 90s, simply because my life really sucked.

Believe it or not, 16 years ago today, I was supposed to get married.

Five years ago, my inlaws were down for the weekend because hubby was having shoulder surgery.

Two years ago, my stepson called hubby and informed him that HE wasn't going on The Big Vacation with us. It's funny now to read the BAD CALL notation, considering how much he LOVES reminiscing that trip!

That's the thing, it helps keep the memories, good and bad.

Two for Gusto:
1. I still have all of our beloved M&M TO-DO list notebooks. Dang, we had a BLAST every single day!
2. It's hard to believe Alex P Keaton turned 45 today!

Guiltless trip
Hubby and the kids are going to his brother's house for the weekend. Our nephew graduated a few weeks ago and this is to be his grad party, and his going away party. The moron joined the Air Force "to pay for college." He had a full-ride going last year, but slacked off so much in his senior year, he lost his funding.

He was lead to believe he will be a golden child in the Air Force. Recruiters are such liars. Hubby just shakes his head.

It will be a good lesson for my kids.

I can't head up with my family since I have to work late Friday and 6 hours on Saturday. Sometimes, it sucks getting your schedule a month in advance. My nephew's party date wasn't decided until a few days before he graduated, so it was too late to request time off.

The festivities start about noon, but I will still be working for another 2 hours. Add in 2.5 hours for driving and we'd be lucky to arrive as the food is thrown away.

Instead, I told hubby to go on without me. The whole weekend. He had a touch of a guilt trip, but I reminded him that I had Neeko, too. Me and my dog will have a fine time, it's been awhile since we've slacked off REAL quality time together.

Neeko is looking forward to 2-3 walks each day AND a trip to PetSmart AND Wendy's chicken nuggets. Plus, sleeping with me and the kitties.

It's gonna be a GREAT weekend!

Crazy grad stories
We went to the graduation ceremony for Munchkin's school the other day. The seniors threw a beach ball around during the BORING band part. It was THEIR graduation, didn't hurt anyone and although not my style, IT WAS THEIR GRADUATION!

Here is a sampling of other current wacky grad stories, most involve lawsuits, of course.

No apology for 'quiet graduation,' Petal principal says

I've never met a mosquito allergic to me
It's been Savannah-sultry the past few weeks here in Michigan. Hot and humid and rain.

Mosquito Freakin' Viagra MEETS Mother Nature's Accellerated Fertility Drugs.

I don't usually mind the itchy little buzzers, but they are literally swarming 24/7. I actually have more than a dozen red lumps on my body where the mommas sucked my blood like the IRS on April 15.

Sure, "put on repellant." Great idea, except I am allergic to EVERYTHING (including Skin So Soft) that is supposed to make me repugnant to hungry bugs. The blotchy hives covering my swollen appendages don't exactly scream SEXY MOMMA to hubby, either.

And they might be against the dress code policy at work, too.

Last summer, we had the family reunion, of course. Plus, hubby and I like to picnic on our motorcycle rides.
2. What sure-fire thing makes you into a basket case? Thinking about my stepson's grades.
