My staff ranges from thin to obese. By BMI standards, I'm overweight as a size 10 and 155 lbs. That's fine for me. I'd like to get down to a size 7, but obviously, I haven't set it as a priority.
What irritates me is when my overweight and obese ladies claim to be "dieting." Their weight is NEVER their fault. For New Year's, several decided on "lose weight" as their resolution. They are each other's support group. During week 1, generally the most productive, all I see are enablers.
Sure, they munch on veggies but with tubs of FAT FREE ranch dip. No matter how much I try to explain, they seem to think that FAT FREE means they won't get fat from it. Unfortunately, they're serious.
They eat 3 of the 100-calorie snack packs. I've seen their WW food point logs and they only count it as 1 because "it's the same thing." Again, they're 100% serious.
I had to show a gal that the HUGE banana muffin she eats each morning at 240 cal/serving was actually *2* servings! She huffed, "I don't know how! Nobody could eat 1/2 of a muffin and just stop!"
They believe the word "salad" makes anything healthy and low cal, including taco, antipasto and Caesar salads. And salads are considered unlimited, especially with FAT FREE dressing. No joke.
Last week, I watched one gal eat Kisses from a coworker's candy dish all day long. She NEVER counted a single Kiss on her log! Before she left, she seriously stated she was famished from not eating all afternoon.
Weigh-in starts this week. It should be VERY interesting (since they aren't exercising.)
I want to bang my head on a wall, just floored at the lack of common sense. Or is it flat-out denial?
