Walking on sunshine. Always tacky.

Sunday, April 28, 2013

I am tired of "friends", especially those without REAL jobs, constantly inviting me to their "31", "Pure Romance", "Mary Kay" or "Scentsy" parties. It's VERY tacky when they know that I'm extremely frugal AND not interested in big purses or candles. I cannot wear makeup due to allergies. And it's tacky, not funny, to put my sex life on display. Sure, it's easy to feel like I should "support" their new endeavor, but they are just annoying sales-people, NOT savvy entrepreneurs or small business biz owners. I don't make a play for their money or guilt them to do their banking and financing thru my institution. Know why? Because they'd ask for favors from me or throw my name around to sound important. I have more respect for a person who asks me for $50 one-on-one. I'd do it, too. AS A GIFT. No strings, no embarrassment. No taking a percentage as "earnings." Yet, some are offended by this offer, they don't want to be seen as a charity case. They protest that I should buy, then give away, their over-priced, "name-brand" junk as gifts. No thanks. I don't spend $30 to get a $10 product. That's a scam. And far less than charity, peeps! DISCLAIMER: Avon in NOT included in this rant. They have decent prices and encourages buying outside of parties. Their sales practices are very unannoying. JMHO.
