They fear SuperWalmart will bring in The Black People. To their neighborhoods! Oh, the crime! They, the residents, feel powerless to take back their "ghetto."
Oh, yes, and "Municipal offices in Livonia do not close on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day..."
On a side note, my mother had to go to court last week about 4 WHITE teenage boys in her Very White Town who had gone around stealing lawn ornaments/decorations, then breaking them and trashing prized gardens (which are part of a tour put on by the city each year.)
At 2 a.m. on a school night last May.
Of course, their lawyers proclaimed them to be "Very Good Boys, who just made a mistake."
It's NOT "just a mistake" to purposely become a THIEF and destroy private property at 2 a.m. on a SCHOOL night.
They were ordered community service, court costs and restitution. One lawyer tried to get my mom and some of the other recipients to let the boys mow their yards/rake leaves, etc. as community service. My mom laughed and said, "You're nuts if you think I'm going to set myself up to worry about those delinquents in my yard!"
And NONE of these Very Good boys or their parents apologized to any of their victims. Sunshine - Walking on Sunshine -
