The difference in degrees As reported here last Spring, my sister (who is 11 months older than me) graduated from college with a basic Associate's Degree.
And boy, that made her so SMART!
Not too long after, she decided that she didn't want to be a teacher, since the starting wage is only about $25,000. Now, she wants to be a social worker because "they make the big bucks." (I digress, but that's another whole story.)
So, she decided to transfer to a university in Detroit.
Gguess what?
They will NOT recognize her degree from the local community college. And they have enrolled her as a FRESHMAN.
Oh yeah, she even has to retake her Math and English courses because the college courses did not make the university cut! OUCH! (Let's just hope they don't hear how poorly she speaks Spanish after 2 years.)
My mom tried to warn her. My sister even had a friend who went thru the same thing with the same university. They are damn tough on transfers.
But THIS is different because my sister plans to Show Them The Light. Her first step has been telling her counselor off.
