Discrimination.
Affirmative action IS discrimination. Affirmative action IS a bigger insult to society than face-to-face racism.
It is condescending. It is telling the very people who strive for equal rights that they DON'T deserve them, they aren't good enough unless they have SPECIAL rights. This doesn't break down barriers, it re-enforces them.
I could easily use my Mexican heritage for affirmative action, but I want to be judged by my own merits. I don't want to be somewhere to fulfill a discriminative quota system...not as a woman, not as a mother, not as a Mexican.
I truly believe affirmative action is a doubled-edged sword that leads right back to discrimination. Sunshine - Walking on Sunshine -
